Enabling Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Protect your HelpKit account with an extra layer of security. Two-factor authentication requires both your password and a verification code to log in.

Why Enable 2FA?

  • Prevents unauthorized access even if password is compromised
  • Required for compliance in many industries
  • Protects sensitive customer conversation data
  • Reduces risk of business WhatsApp number hijacking

  • Setting Up 2FA

    #### Step 1: Access Security Settings
  • 1.Log in to HelpKit
  • 2.Go to Settings → Security → Two-Factor Authentication
  • 3.Click Enable 2FA

  • #### Step 2: Choose 2FA Method

    Option A: Authenticator App (Recommended)
  • Download an authenticator app: Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or Authy
  • Scan the QR code shown on screen
  • Enter the 6-digit code from your app

  • Option B: SMS
  • Enter your mobile number
  • Receive verification code via SMS
  • Note: Less secure than authenticator apps

  • #### Step 3: Save Backup Codes
  • HelpKit generates 10 backup codes
  • Download or print these codes
  • Store them securely offline
  • Each code works only once

  • #### Step 4: Verify and Activate
  • Enter a code from your authenticator app
  • 2FA is now active on your account

  • Logging In with 2FA

  • 1.Enter email and password as usual
  • 2.When prompted, enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app
  • 3.Optionally check "Trust this device for 30 days"

  • Lost Access to 2FA Device?

    If you have backup codes:
  • 1.Click "Use backup code" on the 2FA prompt
  • 2.Enter one of your saved backup codes
  • 3.Access Settings → Security to reconfigure 2FA

  • If you lost backup codes too:
  • 1.Click "Can't access your device?"
  • 2.Verify account ownership via email
  • 3.2FA will be disabled after 24-hour security delay

  • Team Member 2FA

  • Admins can require 2FA for all team members
  • Go to Settings → Security → Team Security
  • Toggle Require 2FA for all members
  • Team members have 7 days to enable before being locked out

  • Best Practices

  • Use authenticator apps over SMS
  • Store backup codes in a password manager
  • Set up 2FA on multiple devices
  • Regenerate backup codes after using several
  • Never share 2FA codes with anyone, including HelpKit support
