Troubleshooting Message Delivery Failures



Messages not reaching your customers? This guide covers all delivery failure scenarios and their fixes.

Delivery Status Meanings



| Status | Icon | Meaning | |--------|------|------| | Sending | ⏳ | Message queued for sending | | Sent | ✓ | Delivered to WhatsApp servers | | Delivered | ✓✓ | Delivered to recipient's device | | Read | ✓✓ (blue) | Recipient opened the message | | Failed | ❌ | Delivery failed |

Common Failure Reasons



#### 1. Invalid Phone Number Error: "Invalid WhatsApp number"
  • Number not registered on WhatsApp
  • Incorrect country code
  • Number recently deactivated


  • Fix: Verify the number is active on WhatsApp by searching in your WhatsApp contacts.

    #### 2. 24-Hour Window Expired Error: "Session window closed"
  • You can only send free-form messages within 24 hours of the last customer message
  • After 24 hours, you must use an approved template


  • Fix: Use a template message or wait for the customer to message you again.

    #### 3. Template Not Approved Error: "Template not found or not approved"
  • Template is still pending Meta review
  • Template was rejected or paused
  • Template name mismatch


  • Fix: Check template status in Settings → Message Templates.

    #### 4. Rate Limit Exceeded Error: "Rate limit hit"
  • Sending too many messages too quickly
  • WhatsApp has per-minute and per-day limits


  • Fix: Slow down sending. Use campaign throttling in Settings → Campaigns → Advanced.

    #### 5. Number Blocked Error: "User has blocked this number"
  • Recipient blocked your business number
  • No way to send messages until they unblock


  • Fix: Contact customer via alternate channel to request unblocking.

    #### 6. Quality Rating Too Low Error: "Quality rating prevents sending"
  • Your number has a Red quality rating
  • Too many users blocked or reported you


  • Fix: Improve message quality, reduce frequency, ensure proper opt-in.

    Bulk Delivery Issues



    Campaign showing many failures?
  • 1.Check if you're messaging opted-out contacts
  • 2.Verify all numbers have correct country codes
  • 3.Ensure template variables are properly mapped
  • 4.Check if your messaging tier allows the volume


  • Debugging Tools



  • Message Log: Go to Analytics → Message Log to see detailed error messages
  • Webhook Logs: Settings → Webhooks → Delivery Logs shows Meta's responses
  • Test Message: Settings → Diagnostics → Send Test Message
